Recent Build that is running fine.

Windows 10

Ryzen 7 3700X

Asus TUF Gaming X570 Mobo

ASUS RX 570 vid

32 gig of RAM

Corsair M.2 (OS)

I would like to update my chipset drivers.  I believe I have done my due-diligence and the instructions on how to install  them with the Asus provided program seems pretty straightforward.  Except, for this particular chipset they indicate...  "Due to the different structure for drivers, suggest you remove the old driver first before install this version driver".

Any searches on how to remove the installed chipset driver come up with either a glitch or seem to point in the wrong direction. I would appreciate any help pointing me in the right direction.

To uninstall drivers...you need to go to Device Manager.

What makes you think that you want to uninstall or replace the current chipset drivers?

Worth A Read.

Unlike updating the BIOS I feel that the chipset drivers do contain usable updates and tweaks.  Mostly doing it to stay current.  I was unable to find anything specific to "chipset" drivers in my Device Manager.  Maybe the term is different?

just go to the product page for your motherboard, and download all the drivers from the page. They should install and overwrite all the old ones without any issue.

Thank you for your help.  That is the page that I'm referencing.  Although I am relatively sure that a download and install will go smoothly...  the disclaimer next to the chipset installation download button was giving me pause.  Thus, how would I uninstall the current chipset driver?

Based on years of viewing posters in this forum, what you want to do is chancy. Anytime you mess with your core drivers..BIOS, Chipset, mainboard, you are taking a chance. Yes, I know, the instruction manual says it can be done, but the reality is that you can run into problems.

For the most part, updating core drivers won't make any difference in your unit's performance.

If you are firm on doing this, I suggest you make a complete image backup of your entire drive first. If worst comes to worst, you can re-image and you have your computer again.

the chipset drivers should uninstall automatically when you run the install program for the new one. Im assuming your only talking about the chipset drivers. I would not mess with the BIOS unless your having issues or you need to upgrade hardware to something your current BIOS does not work with. When it comes to the BIOS if what your using now works fine then there is absolutly no reason to mess with it.

But in my experience chipset drivers are easy and painless. With that said if your current ones are working fine I see no reason to upgrade, but I don't see where it would hurt anything, either.

There should be an entry in the "Apps & Features" section of Windows 10 settings for AMD Chipset Software, which should allow you to uninstall the package.

Failing that, you can uninstall them using this tool from Microsoft - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d

The AMD Chipset drivers should be listed individually (AMD GPIO Driver, etc.)

Thank you for the help.  My board (AMD X570) allows me an upgrade path from my R3700X CPU and although I have no interested in upgrading at this time I thought it would be nice to update the chipset (and possibly BIOS) now rather than adding that anxiety during the upgrade a year or 2 from now.  I know, I know, but that's just the way I work.
